Hong Kong, as a special administrative region of China, has different immigration policies from the mainland. In accordance with the powers conferred by the Basic Law of Hong Kong, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has special jurisdiction over immigration affairs in Hong Kong and is capable of independently negotiating and concluding immigration agreements with other countries and regions. Hong Kong has adopted relatively lenient immigration measures for visitors. This article aims to provide an overview of the countries and territories that are able to enter Hong Kong visa-free.
Holders of ordinary passports from the following countries or regions are visa-free for short-term stay in Hong Kong:
7 days: Timor-Leste, Mainland China (transit only), Macau China (transit only) Mainland residents traveling to Hong Kong for business/tourism can stay in Hong Kong for 7 days with a Hong Kong-Macao Exit-Entry Permit (EEP) Macau residents can stay in Hong Kong for 180 days with Macau Permanent Resident Identity Card Taiwan residents using the Taiwan Compatriot Permit to Hong Kong can stay for 30 days
