Amid the tariff turmoil, China has broken through and moved forward

    Recently, the new administration of the United States has significantly raised tariffs, with the increase on imported products from China possibly exceeding 60%. This move has drawn global attention and posed a huge challenge to Chinese export enterprises. However, the Chinese government and enterprises have not retreated. Instead, they have actively taken countermeasures, striving to transform external pressure into opportunities for structural upgrading.

Take strong countermeasures and safeguard interests
    Facing the threat of tariffs, the Chinese government responded promptly and forcefully. Starting from April 10, 2025, a 34% tariff will be imposed on all imported goods originating from the United States, demonstrating the determination to safeguard its own interests. At the same time, the current bonded and tax reduction and exemption policies will remain unchanged, but the additional tariffs imposed this time will not be reduced or exempted, demonstrating flexibility and pragmatism. To provide enterprises with a buffer period, no additional tariffs will be imposed on imported goods during specific periods. In addition, strengthening the export control of key resources, such as implementing export control measures on seven types of medium and heavy rare earth related items including samarium, indicates that there are sufficient countermeasures in place.

Adopt multiple measures to turn crises into opportunities
    Chinese export enterprises have actively adopted a variety of countermeasures. In terms of cost control, we will cut expenses through digital transformation and refined management, and optimize logistics and inventory management. In terms of compliance, strengthen the research on international trade rules to ensure that trade activities are legal and compliant, and enhance the management of certificates of origin. In terms of innovation-driven development, we will increase investment in research and development, launch new products with independent intellectual property rights, and strengthen cooperation with universities and research institutions. In terms of market expansion, we actively explore emerging markets and adjust product functions and packaging designs based on the demands of the target markets. In terms of supply chain reconstruction, the supply chain is restructured through "regional substitution", global factor resources are integrated, tariff costs are reduced, and trade risks are avoided.

Light industry manufacturing, breaking through adversity
    Take China's light industry manufacturing as an example. Facing the threat of tariffs, this industry has not been significantly impacted. Leading enterprises choose to build factories overseas to avoid the impact of additional tariffs. At the same time, they effectively reduce costs and control expenses, share tariffs with customers, and maintain a relatively stable profit level in export business. In addition, the industry has also launched new products such as environmentally friendly and energy-saving ones through technological innovation and product upgrading, strengthened brand building and market promotion, and enhanced brand awareness and reputation.

    Facing the challenge of tariffs, the Chinese government and enterprises have demonstrated strong response capabilities and firm confidence. In the future, China will continue to adhere to the development concepts of openness and innovation, strengthen economic and trade cooperation with other countries around the world, and promote the process of trade and investment liberalization and facilitation.
